Coco Coir discs are made from coconut husk and are 100% natural, biodegradable with no chemicals
As well as being eco-friendly and environmentally sustainable for gardening they are a no mess, no fuss growing medium. Coco Coir discs are ideal for indoor growing use and can be used in gardens, allotments, and greenhouses too
How to use for growing Hamsey Greens microgreens:
- Place both discs in a tray and steadily add 200ml of water
- Leave to stand for a couple of minutes allowing the discs to fully soak up the water
- Once the water has been absorbed and the discs swollen to approximately five times the size peel off the netting and discard it
- Spread the compost within the tray ensuring it is as even and level as possible
- Sprinkle the seeds on the compost surface (check back of seeds packets for specific directions)
- Black out with an opaque (non transparent) cover for 4-5 days to germinate
- When shoots begin to grow remove the cover and place the tray on a windowsill, shelf, tabletop, kitchen counter, breakfast bar etc for the remainder of the growth period
- Only water the microgreens from the side (never from the top) if they begin to droop or the compost is very dry. Add the equivalent of 2-3 tablespoons of water and then slightly tip the tray to allow the water to run underneath throughout the root system. If the stems continue to droop or the compost is still abit dry after 5-10 minutes add a little more water – always underwater microgreens and add water if needed
- Harvest and enjoy your delicious microgreens – you can leave them in the tray and cut as and when you want to eat them which will extend their shelf life
Coco Coir is so easy to use and can be composted after use
